Medco has partnered with the Professional Baseball Athletic Trainers Society (PBATS) and Gatorade to recognize and support high school athletic training nationwide. The primary way in which this is achieved is through the annual Minor League Athletic Trainer of the Year Award, facilitated by PBATS; the 2023 winners have been announced and given the opportunity to give back to their communities.

The Partnership and What it Means for Award Winners
The collaboration between Medco, PBATS, and Gatorade is primarily to recognize excellence withing the athletic training community. The Minor League Athletic Trainer of the Year Award handed out by PBATS celebrates athletic trainers within the minor league baseball system who have shown outstanding contributions and commitment to player care.
In a collaborative effort to revitalize this initiative, Medco, PBATS and Gatorade have granted the winners of the award the opportunity to give back to their communities by allowing them to select a high school of their choice to receive the Gatorade High School Performance Package of athletic training supplies.

This partnership highlights a shared commitment to a culture of excellence within sports medicine and athletic development right at the grassroots level. It’s a philanthropic endeavor aimed at addressing the needs of high school sports programs and providing them with access to quality training equipment and resources.
“By empowering high school athletic training departments with the tools they need to succeed, PBATS, Medco, and Gatorade are investing in the future of sports and promoting the importance of comprehensive athlete care from the early stages of development,” said PBATS in a press release from March 27.
